We can’t believe it’s nearly the end of 2018 already – but what a fantastic year it’s been! From fitting a new range and refurbishing our shop to winning multiple awards, we’ve grown and accomplished so much in the last year. We’ve tried to cover as much as we could in our latest blog to celebrate…

Award-winning food

We’ve gone from strength to strength this year, being recognised in the industry for our hard work and delicious food. Within the last 12 months we’ve won a Good Food Award 2019 and been chosen as ‘Best Fish & Chip Shop – Hampshire’ in LUX Life Magazine’s Food and Drink Awards. We’ve also ranked in the top 50 for Fry Magazine’s best fish and chip takeaways in the UK and are one of the top 60 in the National Fish and Chips Awards 2019!

But it’s not just our food that’s recognised within the industry, we’ve been shortlisted to the final 6 in the ‘Marketing Innovation’ category in the National Fish & Chips 2019 awards, organised by Seafish, with results announced in January.

Of course, we also couldn’t forget our fantastic win at this year’s Petersfield Awards Ceremony where we were chosen as ‘Best Restaurant’!

We’re social

Just like previous years, we’ve loved chatting with our customers on social media along with running a few competitions and prize giveaways! From our January £5000 Feel Good Giveaway scratchcards, the Valentine’s chance to win a meal for two, multiple World Cup wins and our Easter Hotel Chocolat giveaway – there’s always plenty going on! Come and get involved in all of the fun by following us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter!

We also ran our Mud Pies competition in July, where we asked you, our customers, to submit your ideal pie recipes and to vote for your favourite with the winning recipe (smoked haddock, cod, salmon and prawn pie) chosen!

Promoting Petersfield

At Sea and Spud, we’re proud to be part of the Petersfield community. During 2018 we’ve supported local charities and community projects by raising money through sales of our large cod. On National Fish and Chips Day (June 1st), we doubled our donation from 20p to 40p to local charity ‘Inspired by Stephen’.

To help raise money for Save the Children, we’ll be joining in with Christmas Jumper Day on the 14th December to raise money for the charity…so keep an eye out for our outfits!

We always try and use local suppliers and produce where possible. This year we’ve added Mooka Gelato (based in Steep Marsh) and South Downs Water (Chichester) to our stock.

For those working in the emergency services, NHS or armed forces we also introduced the Blue Light Card discount of 10% at Sea and Spud to show our support.

Environmentally aware

We’ve always been passionate about reducing our carbon footprint and to be as eco-friendly as possible. In October we registered with the ‘Too Good To Go’ app to sell our food with a 40% discount in the last 30 minutes of service, to help prevent wastage.

Customers can also enjoy a free side when they reuse the Sea and Spud bag to collect a takeaway.

We give you options

We love to give customers choice at Sea and Spud such as our gluten free menu, which we have now expanded to be available Monday – Thursday. We’re also now offering our light lunch menu, in support of the Government’s OneYou campaign, with a delicious range of 600Kcals meals.

Here’s to 2019!

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading our round up of everything that’s happened this year at Sea and Spud! We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
